Congratulations to Joanna Campbell, our local prizewinner in 2013 with the poignant ‘Fragments Left behind.’ Her debut novel ‘Tying Down the Lion’ has just been published by Brick Lane and she will be at Waterstones, Bath at 6.30 pm on July 9th for the launch.
Tying Down the Lion tells the story of a continental road trip – with a difference: East Berlin in 1967 is not an obvious destination. Described by author and lecturer Rachel Connor as ‘a big-hearted, sprawling literary road trip, with pitch-perfect comic pacing and memorable characters’ that ‘records an important moment in British cultural history’, it’s the perfect read for summer as we set off on our travels.
Joanna has always been a prolific writer; her stories have won or been shortlisted for many of the most prestigious prizes. In addition to her novel, she has a collection of short stories When Planets Slip Their Tracks (published by Ink Tears Press) coming out this summer. What an inspiration to us all!
